About Us
Big Mike brings unmatched experience and dedication to every class. He has over 25 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience and 35+ years in martial arts. His journey has taken him across the globe, training with a variety of instructors and earning his black belt under Dax Razzano in 2024.
With decades of teaching experience—including time as a Navy flight instructor, Mike specializes in breaking down complex techniques into approachable, effective lessons. He’s been a head coach at multiple academies, started Jiu-Jitsu clubs in areas without schools, and has built Big Mike’s BJJ to be a place where respect, growth, and skill go hand in hand.
When you train at Big Mike’s, you’ll learn from someone who is fully dedicated to the art and science of Jiu-Jitsu. This is Mike’s only job, so he works full-time researching tactics, strategies, and training methodologies to bring you the best instruction available. Simply put, his unique depth of experience ensures that you’re learning what works, directly from someone who’s used it successfully against fully resisting opponents.
