About Us
The Global Boxing Union (GBU) is an independent professional boxing organization founded in 1994 in Germany. It sanctions both men’s and women’s boxing matches and awards world, intercontinental, and regional titles across various weight divisions.
The GBU operates globally, sanctioning fights in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. It is known for promoting boxing in developing markets and giving fighters opportunities who may not yet be ranked by the major sanctioning bodies.
Although the GBU is not among the “big four” (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO), it is recognized in the boxing community as a minor sanctioning body. It provides a stepping stone for up-and-coming fighters, and some former GBU champions have gone on to fight for more prestigious titles.
