Joshua Anthony Cisneros is a prominent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt competitor, born on May 2, 2000, in Santa Maria, California, USA. Raised in Selma, California, he began his martial arts journey with wrestling at the age of 12, competing at the state level for Selma High School. His introduction to BJJ came through his father, a student of Royce Gracie, who enrolled Joshua and his brother Jacob into classes at Elite Team Visalia. Under the guidance of Tom Knox, a black belt under Cleber Luciano, Joshua advanced from white to black belt, receiving his promotion in August 2020. Known for his dynamic guard game and submission skills, he has secured victories in major tournaments, including the IBJJF Pan Championship, IBJJF American Nationals, and the ADCC West Coast Trials. At the 2024 ADCC World Championships, he earned a bronze medal, solidifying his status among the sport’s elite. Competing in the 66 kg (145 lbs) weight class, Joshua is affiliated with Elite Team Visalia and continues to be a significant figure in the BJJ community.
