Kyra Gracie Guimarães, born on May 29, 1985, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a pioneering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and a prominent member of the legendary Gracie family. She is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished female grapplers in the history of the sport Kyra began her BJJ journey at a young age, influenced by her uncles Renzo, Ralph, and Ryan Gracie, who were all accomplished martial artists. Despite initial resistance from her family, she pursued her passion for BJJ and quickly ascended through the ranks. At 21, she was awarded her black belt by her uncle, Carlos Gracie Jr.
