Luiza Monteiro is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and accomplished competitor representing the Alliance Team. Born in May 1990 in Manaus, Brazil, she began her martial arts journey with judo at age nine but transitioned to weightlifting and bodybuilding due to limited opportunities for girls in her judo club. In 2012, she met BJJ black belt Diego Castelo Branco, who introduced her to jiu-jitsu in 2015. Initially training as a hobby while working as an accountant, Luciana’s passion and talent for BJJ quickly became evident. Within 11 months, she earned her blue belt and started competing in national tournaments. Her dedication led to numerous accolades, including IBJJF World No-Gi Championships at purple and brown belts, and a silver medal at the 2022 IBJJF World Championships at black belt.
