Manuel Ribamar, affectionately known as “Riba,” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and elite competitor renowned for his technical prowess and strategic guard passing. Born on September 22, 1993, in Amazonas, Brazil, Riba began his martial arts journey at age 12, training informally with his brown belt brother, Bosco Junior. His formal BJJ education commenced at Itamar Coty’s academy, where he progressed under the guidance of Orley Lobato. Later, he trained with Master Faustino Neto (“Pina”) in Manaus, earning his blue and purple belts before an opportunity to train in Europe with Anderson Pereira of Icon BJJ. A knee injury led him to return to Brazil, where he worked to fund his surgery and continued training.
