Mateus Rodrigues de Souza is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Guilherme Mendes and a prominent competitor representing the Art of Jiu-Jitsu (AOJ) Academy. Born on May 19, 2000, in Curitiba, Brazil, Mateus was introduced to martial arts by his father, Silvio “Urutum” Rodrigues, a notable figure from the Chute Boxe Academy. At age 16, after reaching out to Guilherme Mendes, Mateus moved to California to train at AOJ, where he rapidly progressed through the ranks, earning his black belt in December 2021.
