Matheus Oliveira Diniz, known as “King Kong,” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Marcelo Garcia and a prominent figure in the international grappling scene. Born on April 8, 1993, in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Diniz began his martial arts journey with capoeira at age 10 before transitioning to BJJ at 15 under coach Rodrigo Ranieri. He later trained under Paulo Rezende, earning his purple and brown belts, and eventually moved to New York City to train at Marcelo Garcia’s academy, where he received his black belt in April 2015.
