Rafael Lovato Jr. is a distinguished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and retired undefeated mixed martial artist, widely regarded as one of the greatest American BJJ competitors of all time. Born on June 25, 1983, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he began his martial arts journey at a young age, training in various disciplines before discovering BJJ at 13. Under the guidance of Carlos Machado, Lovato earned his black belt in August 2004 at the age of 21, making him the youngest American to receive a black belt in BJJ at that time.
