About Us

​Sergio “Pichilinga” Rios is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and former mixed martial artist, renowned for his aggressive and crowd-pleasing style. Born on July 31, 1988, in Campo Formoso, Bahia, Brazil, Rios began his BJJ journey at age 15 under Marcos Matos at Academia Dojô Jiu-Jitsu. He received his black belt in 2009 and has since become a prominent figure in the sport. ​

Rios has achieved significant success in both gi and no-gi competitions, securing titles such as the IBJJF World Master and Pan Championships, as well as victories in AJP events. He is particularly known for his mastery of the armbar technique.

In 2023, Rios founded Rasai Jiu-Jitsu Academy in San Diego, California, named in honor of his son, Rafael. As head coach, he emphasizes technical excellence and community building. ​

Beyond his BJJ accomplishments, Rios has a professional MMA record of 8 wins and 3 losses, with 5 of his victories coming by submission.
